about me

Hi guys and gals,

My name is Dana, a food-explorer and culinary adventurer..

I created this website so I could share my passion for cooking and baking that is purely plant-based.

Originally I'm from Israel, and a Cincinnati proud resident since 2016.

By day I work as a research scientist, and by night I'm enjoying my happy kitchen :)

Why Vegan?

I grew up in an omnivore home, and never really liked meat.. My awareness kept growing which had me go through a gradual process of adopting a vegetarian lifestyle for a few years before I finally switched to veganism. I know that for many people this transition is a significant challenge, and I get it. It was in some ways for me as well, with dairy especially. And then, one day I felt I got it. I realized it's not hard at all to see a piece of cheese in front of me, because it's not mine to take, or pay for. The owner of the ingredients that made that cheese never intended for it to be given away, and that alone helped everything to click. I am vegan by choice, for the sacred purpose of being kind to others, being kind to our earth, being kind to our own body and restoring moral values. With the cooperation of my wonderful partner, I am doing my best as a parent to bequeath these values to my children (we have three boys!), and I truly believe that one good way to help the world become a more compassionate one is through creative cooking. A vegan kitchen is a diverse, colorful, creative, healthy one. Let your friends and families enjoy your wonderful cooking and kick-ass baked goods! That's how we tell whoever wonders, that being vegan is all about the goodness in life.

What you'll find in this website

Over time I've accumulated recipes I created, adjusted or developed, and just have to share it with the rest of the world! Quite a few of my recipes are soy-free, because my youngest son is allergic to soy (F-PIES allergy) and quite a lot of them are also gluten-free or can be easily modified to be. You can wander through the recipe pages on your desktop and look for the "GF" (Gluten-Free) and "SF" (Soy-Free) tags on the far-left side on the top of the recipe. The mobile version is not completely up-to-date with these tags. I'm working on it...

Please explore any category that you're interested in, and you are more than welcome to ask me any questions or share any experience you had with my recipes. I'll get back to you as soon as my kids let me!

I added a tab of recommended brands I absolutely love and appreciate, for their quality, taste, clean label and/ or environment-friendliness. I should mention here that I am not compensated in any way for these recommendations. I will soon also incorporate literature and recipe books recommendations.

From time to time I will post another recipe and update my blog in case you'll be following my homepage :) So be sure to join my mailing list and soon I will be updating you on a monthly basis of any new contents on this website!

I am excited for every person who I may inspire to try cook plant-based, and I am hopeful you'll enjoy trying these recipes out. BETE'AVON!!! (Bon appetite in Hebrew)
